"Peaceful People" - A Mindfulness Program for Kids
Jan 16 06:30 PM - 07:30 PM
Thomas Library - Chesterton
The concept of "mindfulness" seems to be having a moment– but are you unsure of where to start to incorporate it into your busy life? Westchester Public Library invites you to bring the whole family to the Children’s Department at the Thomas Branch to slow down and chill out on Tuesday nights at the library.
Each session, we will open with a short exercise to help us become aware of our breath. Then we will share a book or two with an emphasis on empathy or kindness. We will also explore a different activity designed to increase feelings of peace and well-being, including mandala construction, gratitude journaling, and painting kindness rocks.
Peaceful People will take place on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 pm from January 9 - February 27, 2018. Registration is required, as our space is limited. This program is for children age 6 and up with their caregivers. To register call the Children’s Department at (219) 926-7696, or visit the Thomas Branch of Westchester Public Library, 200 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton.
Thomas Library is located at 200 W. Indiana Ave. in Chesterton. Registration can be done in person, or by calling the library at 219-926-7696.
