Hospice of the Calumet Area Healing Hearts program provides counseling through bereavement support groups for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the death. Individuals who are experiencing a loss need to know that they are not alone at this most difficult time in their lives. Healing Hearts offers, at no cost, helpful information, support, and a comfortable atmosphere for sharing feelings, experiences, struggles and triumphs.
The upcoming teen workshop series will be held on Monday evenings from 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. at the Hospice of the Calumet Area administrative office located at 600 Superior Ave in Munster on January 8, January 22, February 5, February 19, March 5 and March 19. Written parental permission is required.
Topics that will be covered are Getting to Know You and Your Loved One, Dealing with Feelings, Understanding My Feelings, Remembering, Coping with Change and Moving On.
The adult workshop series will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at the Cancer Resource Centre located at 926 Ridge Road in Munster on January 17, January 31, February 14, February 28, March 14 and March 28.
The same adult series is also offered on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Ridge United Methodist Church located at 8607 Columbia Avenue in Munster on January 18, February 1, February 15, March 1, March 15 and March 29.
Topics that will be covered are Surviving the Loss of a Loved One, Understanding the Grief Process, Helping Yourself Heal, How to Deal with Other People When I’m Grieving, Life Changes and Learning to Live Again.
