Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center at Methodist Hospitals Pampers and Educates Women at Healthy Night Out with the Girls
The Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center at Methodist Hospitals Southlake Campus hosted a Healthy Night Out with Girls event to give women a chance to pamper themselves and get some much-needed information on cervical cancer. Once the check-in process was complete, ladies were free to head up to the Breast Care Center, where they could enjoy refreshments and receive free spa services. Some of the spa services included, chair and hand massages, free bra fittings by a certified bra fitter, as well as free bone density scans.
Southlake Nissan Partners with USO of Illinois to Support Local Military Families at BBQ for the Troops
Saturday afternoon, Southlake Nissan welcomed the USO of Illinois to a BBQ for the Troops, a beloved tradition with the goal of raising awareness and donations to further assist veterans and their families. The USO BBQ For The Troops program, with the partnership of over 70 dealerships across Chicagoland, including Southlake Nissan, has a goal of raising funds and donations to support local troops and their families.
Plates were piled high with delicious pulled pork and more at the annual WVLP 103.1 Hog Roast at Butterfield Pavilion at Fairground Park Friday night. With live ambient music, a selection of salads and pasta, grilled chicken, and a perpetually replenished table of home-baked desserts, the WVLP Hog Roast cranked tradition up a notch.
Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr., Hammond Parks and Recreation Department, 6th District Councilman Scott Rakos, 5th District Councilman Dave Woerpel and Hammond Board of Park Commissioners began the enhancement to Hessville Park today with a groundbreaking ceremony.
Indiana University Northwest’s Lean Six Sigma (LSS) intermediate- and expert-level certifications, known as the green and black belt designations, respectively, are available to business professionals in Northwest Indiana. Enrollees need not be IU Northwest students to take advantage of this certification program.
On Thursday, community members gathered at Forest Park Golf Course in Valparaiso for a round of golf to support Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana. A total of 196 players of all ability levels climbed into carts and headed out for two separate shotgun starts, showing a huge level of support for the cause. Not only was it a beautiful, sunny day to play golf, it was also a great day to support the community.
Registration Information for Returning Students
Beginning on Monday, July 16, parents of all returning Duneland School students may register their children online using the Parent Access Portal. Online payments will be available for grade K-6 only on Monday, July 16. Due to potential student schedule changes, online payments for grades 7-12 will be available beginning on Saturday, Sept. 15.
Joan Doolittle Pacholke, 70 of Valparaiso passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018. She was born April 22, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Philip and Adeline (Krejci) Doolittle. On April 11, 1970 in Valparaiso, she married Mark S. Pacholke who survives. Joan is also survived by her children Aaron (Laurie) Pacholke of Tampa, Florida, David (Heather) Pacholke of Lewisville, North Carolina, and Jessica (Paul) Kavanagh of Charlotte, North Carolina; 5 grandchildren Kaitlyn, Neenah, C.J., Jessa, and Drew; and her siblings Phoebe Brink of Valparaiso, Philip (Jan) Doolittle of Valparaiso, Jimmy (Lorraine) Doolittle of Valparaiso and Jean Arrington of Tennessee.
This summer, high school students can steal a chance to learn how exciting it is to have a career in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) field. Indiana University Northwest is hosting a STEM Camp on July 30 through August 1 in the Library Conference Center. This interactive experience is open to incoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors of all backgrounds--and it’s completely free.
